The overriding theme is that we have traded freedom for convenience, and traded freedom to woke tech overlords in exchange for the unwritten guarantee of never being offended or exposed to any views that differ from our own. The irony is that the police state America has become is not being administered by our government, but by tech oligarchs and low-level bureaucrats. Their illegal data mining is not only used to exploit people, but to anesthetize us as well. Many of these processes are being automated for greater efficiency. The world today is closer to Brave New World than 1984. It's "friendly" authoritarianism. By restricting speech and increasing reliance on cognitive-outsourcing (and programs and gadgets that degrade our cognitive abilities) we are not only ceding freedom of speech to the tech giants, but also human agency and autonomy itself.
