Excellent comments. The TDSB is out of control and hence now in July 2025 it is (Thank God) under government administration and Trustees have been relieved of their duties.
How utterly, utterly disgusting. And very reminiscent of the NSDAP's slapping the "Jewish" label on anything they didn't agree with or understand (or that didn't coincide with their worldview). If you want to see the functional roots of DEI, just change a word or two in anything they say.
If they were operating in the US, odds are this "consulting company" would have been sued.
This the Board that cancelled a book event with former Islamic State prisoner (and Nobel Peace Prize winner) Nadia Murad on the grounds that it might promote Islamophobia.
Thank you for continuing to tell Richard's story. It is tragically heartbreaking what he went through. It still bothers me, to this day, how the vast majority of teachers turned their backs on him.
In the US, this is how Trump got elected. The Democrats have lost connection with the vast majority of Americans. Unfortunately, they appear to have learned nothing. It is so exasperating.
In SF , Lowell HS was always a merit entry school until two years ago when under the push for "inclusion and diversity" it went to a lottery. The number of remedial classes needed for students who had not been prepared for the level of work required was so great it was exceeding their budget. It has rightly gone back to a merit entry system.
A similar thing happened in the 60's at CCNY which offered one of the best education opportunities in the country. CCNY had an excellent reputation with many students going on to graduate school or professional studies ,and a long list of prestigious alumni including Supreme Court Justices, Generals and Senators. Any HS student in NYC could attend for free. The only requirement was passing a very basic exam to show you could do college work. There was no ranking, it was strictly pass fail. Anyone who got a GED could easily pass.
A legal suit was filled and won requiring them to take all students, since they were tax payer funded and no one could be refused entry. The large number of remedial classes needed soon broke their budget and after two years , for the first time in history they had to charge tuition. This hit hardest on lower income families who now had to find that money.
Once community colleges sprang up there was now another option for students who had not been sufficiently prepared for college level work. Today CCNY charges tuition and there is a more demanding evaluation for applying students with an average GPA of 3.5 and about a 60% admission rate. The loss of the best education value in the country.
That's a very pertinent concern, NC, now that DEI has penetrated to the core of North American medical schools. Merit should not be a consideration for admission. Only Diversity must be served. Once admitted, Equity requires that ALL graduate, even those that worship ideology over truth and science and even those that recognize science but are unable to learn and master it. Your comment about physicians and airline pilots is not rhetorical; it's quite timely.
I hope they don’t follow what happened in my country. We started admitting people to medical programs and prioritizing hospital care based on race. That led to real harm: underqualified professionals in critical roles and people being denied the care they need because they belong to the “wrong” racial group. That isn’t progress—it’s a dangerous form of discrimination. Some pay a much higher price, whether in a hospital or an airplane, while others profit by promoting the supposed benefits of these policies. I remember a time when we didn’t even lock our doors—from age 5 to 20, I never had a key to the house it was always unlocked. Now, the country is rife with crime, social unrest, and hatred between groups. This is the legacy of DEI nonsense.

It is so hard to see DEI, and those who believe in it, undermine merit yet again.
Rest in peace, Richard. It was not for naught.

Canada is so broken, elbows up or not.
Another triumph for "experts" over common sense.

Some, like many of those who were entranced in Germany, will awaken to great despair.
They will have a long time to think about it.
The Woke know no guilt; they served their god, DEI
Thank you.
Thank you for keeping this story alive. It was a travesty and a tragedy.

...can't wait to have a doctor that actually gets 'trained' by the system or airline pilot...
the sooner they get rid of the stupid idea of equity, the better off we all are, and safer!
