I suspect you and I would disagree on many issues (just a hunch), but I think you make an extremely important point: the assertion that racial differences are mere social constructs is patently and scientifically untrue. When people repeat this, and brow beat anyone who disagrees, this does damage to society insofar as it undermines respect for plain honesty.

I do believe that malevolent intent is behind the initial push for the concept, though many people simply repeat the bromide out of the press of conformity. I see the malicious motive because when combined with another fiction, that of “systemic racism”, the obvious answer is to undermine all American social foundations as the only remedy.

If race is a social construct, the only way to eliminate system-wide racism is to destroy the society itself. It’s a rather insidious syllogism.

Biological race *is* a social construct. People from Somalia appear black, but biologically they have more in common with other Middle easterners of the region. Yes, ancestry tests can narrow down to villages. You are kind of arguing against yourself, since not all people who appear white (or black) are biologically similar.

I don't know what you're disagreeing with exactly, or why you're so vehement about it. Genetics is more complicated than skin color and the social experience of race is not the same as biological race. Where's the argument?

No, I think Dolezol is a grifter. I'd rather see scholarships disseminated based on low-income status, not to anyone who grew up with wealth, no matter what their race. I think even the social experience of race has nuance, rich black folks have a much different experience than poor black folks. But this experience has a lot more to do with socio-political structures and class. Trying to explain that via biology gets into the dangerous territory of claiming that some people are biologically inferior to others, which is egregious and wrong.

Agreed. Particularly if a parent is still claiming a student as a dependent on their taxes but not actually supporting them. And Biden runs his mouth about racism, but he has been in politics for long enough to show his true colors. That 1994 crime bill was a travesty.
