This is beautiful! And, I've never really thought about it, but I think that what I hate so much about the new trend is that it pretends that because I am a white female, I am like all other white females. Even my husband will tell others that I am weird and not at all like anybody else. That can be good or bad, I guess, but I dont want to be in a box. And, I'd be willing to bet not many people do. Love does win. I'm going to keep this in my heart today.

Same here. Which is why I have to be careful when I mention I'm a liberal--I note that I am NOT woke because people assume I'm a wokenazi if I don't. I imagine righties who don't want to be taken for uber-MAGAs have to do something similar. "I'm not like THOSE people!"

We've clearly made progress. In a world where US approval of marriage between blacks and whites has gone from 4% to 94% much has gotten much better and is worth celebrating.

<GASP!>

What??? We've made PROGRESS? Things are as bad as they always were! WORSE, even! WORSE even than the Civil War! Worse than the witch trials! Slaves had it better than black people today! Women are still Biblical chattel under American law! HERETIC!!!

Dealing with the impact of "wokeness" is just beginning, and the problem can't be solved until we understand - AND ACCEPT - the source of it.

Each generation has striven to "leave the world a better place". The problem we have now is that the current generation sees no opportunity to do so. How do you improve on "saving the world from tyranny" and "the civil rights movement"? So we have made up crisis after crisis search for something we can put on our epitaph. "Global Warming", "Transgender", "End of Democracy", "Global Pandemic", etc. We can't seem to see that some generations leave the world a better place by being good stewards of what we have inherited. Instead, we have squandered it and left our progeny with very few options to deal with the social and economic messes they will inherit.

You don't get to pick history; history chooses you. The next two generations have Augean Stables level messes to clean up. I am ashamed to be a member of one of the two generations that royally screwed it up.

I would say that hate has the better track record.
