Round Rock’s Vague and Divisive Resolution
Recently, Round Rock Independent School District drafted a school board resolution titled “Resolution Condemning Actions That Divide Our Community and Incite Hatred.” However, despite the title, the resolution used language throughout that was vague and potentially devisive.
Working closely with our expert legal team, FAIR Austin responded to Round Rock’s resolution point-by-point in order to help provide precise definitions for their vague terminology and be more inclusive to diverse perspectives.

FAIR Rome Q&A
We are excited to announce the founding of our newest FAIR chapter in Rome, Georgia. The chapter is the second community-based chapter in Georgia after FAIR Atlanta. This week, FAIR Rome chapter leader Jennifer Thompson participated in a short Q&A about the chapter and her reasons for founding it.

John McWhorter: How “Woke Racism” Hurts Black People
This week we released a new video with FAIR Advisor John McWhorter titled “How ‘Woke Racism’ Hurts Black People.” In the video, McWhorter explains that there is a new philosopical ideology currently masquerading as “antiracism” that in fact harms the very people it proposes to help—black people.
[The ideology] portrays black people as perpetual victims, always crying, always angry, needing whites to tip-toe around us. It’s condescending. Those who practice the bigotry of low expectations, demanding that testing and academic standards need to be lowered to accommodate black people, make it appear as if we’re incapable of succeeding on the same level as everyone else. Those who claim moral virtue in “doing the work” are in fact doing the work of making me into a perfect idiot.
According to McWhorter, focusing solely on disparate outcomes prevents us from actually improving the lives of many black Americans. Instead, we should be focusing on practical solutions like ending the “War on Drugs,” making sure that all women have access to reproductive contraception, making sure that all children are taught to read via phonics, and supporting vocational training as a viable alternative to college.
