FAIR Call to Action: Sign Open Letter to Defend Open Inquiry and Academic Freedom
FAIR in Medicine is the professional healthcare network within The Foundation Against Intolerance & Racism (FAIR). We support open and robust debate to advance high quality, ethical medicine for all.
Dear Friends of FAIR,
Please join us in defending open inquiry in science and healthcare practice by signing FAIR’s Open Letter in Support of Dr. Kenneth Zucker and the Need to Promote Robust Scientific Debate.
Dr. Zucker is under attack for his editorial decision to publish an academic paper on the topic of Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria (ROGD) in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior. Calls to retract papers and sanction editors for publishing politically disfavored studies are an anathema to the pursuit of excellence in science and healthcare practice. Open inquiry and robust debate are required for a free society to answer complex questions about best practices to help patients balance benefits and harms of a therapeutic intervention, especially when vulnerable minors are exposed to irreversible treatments.
FAIR in Medicine stands with all researchers, editors, academics, clinicians and truth-seekers to support and encourage open inquiry in science and healthcare practice. Please join us.
Respectfully,
Carrie D. Mendoza, MD

Thank you for doing this. I hope to see more calls to action like this in which we can get involved. I’ve signed and forwarded the letter in an effort to preserve the integrity of research and evidence-based practice in my own field of healthcare. Who suffers when valid research is censored? Our patients and their families.
How any Western liberal could fail to support this letter is inexplicable.
